Holbrooks Community Association are excited to announce that we are currently recruiting a Administrative Volunteer Coordinator
For 21 hours per week
Salary: £21,000 pro rata (based on full time hours)
24 months fixed term contract in the first instance (with scope to extend dependent on funding)
Our well established community organisation is looking for a dynamic Volunteer Coordinator to coordinate the recruitment of volunteers and support the Development officer in creating volunteering opportunities at Holbrooks Community Care Association (HCCA)
MAIN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
• Research and write volunteer policies and procedures, including risk assessments
• Work with the Development Officer to generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the organisation
• promote volunteering (internally and externally) through recruitment and publicity strategies and campaigns
• recruit and interview volunteers and ensure they are appropriately matched and trained for a position
• carry out pre-volunteering checks, including references and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where appropriate
• organise rotas and provide inductions and training, as well as debrief interviews for departing volunteers
• ensure there is appropriate support and training for volunteers through regular informal contact and more structured reviews
• monitor, support, motivate and accredit volunteers and their work
• celebrate volunteering by nominating volunteers for awards and organise celebration events
• organise profile-raising events to attract new volunteers
• manage budgets and resources, including the reimbursement of expenses
• keep up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering and make any necessary modifications to accommodate changes
• work with multiple agencies across different sectors in order to establish good working relationships to influence decisions about volunteering
An ideal candidate will have:
• At least 2 years’ experience supporting volunteers within in a community organisation
• A working knowledge of developing projects and supervision
• Excellent communication skills written and verbal, including report writing.
• Excellent IT skills, including all Microsoft office packages
• Excellent organisational skills to enable plan, coordinate and evaluate events and activities
• Recognise and challenge behaviour and attitudes that discriminate against others
• Commitment to working in a participative, empowering and non-judgemental style with young people.
• Ability to work within a team and contribute effectively to the development of both centres.
• Ability to manage workload effectively and on own initiative.
• Ability to relate to, motivate and lead people.
• Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
